About Us
The Los Angeles County Coalition for Death penalty Alternatives is a coaltion of individuals and organizations who promote safe and humane alternatives to the death penalty in Los Angeles. We are made up civil rights activists, religious leaders, community organizations, and many others who see the death penalty in Los Angeles as an unjust and unnecessary waste.
Our reasons for opposing capital punishment are as diverse as our coaliton members. As taxpayers, many of us see the death penalty as too expesnive, costing millions that could be spent on education and preventative policing. For others, our faith compels us to preserve the sanctity of human life. Many of our members have lost loved ones to violent crime and seek healing without resorting to further violence. We see the risk of executing the innocent and the futility of executing the guilty, and so we join our voices together in calling on our county leaders to End the Death Penalty in LA.
